Five Great Reasons To Wear a Wristwatch

Not sure if a timepiece is right for you or not?  Technology has changed and we have been armed with cell phones, some may think that wearing a watch is no longer useful.  There are many great reasons to wear a watch, these are my top five.

1 - Grown Ups Wear Watches

When I was a child, I remember getting my first wristwatch, and, It was awesome!   I didn’t know a thing about timepieces at the time. What I did know is that I felt a sense of accomplishment, and I was so proud to put my watch on for the first time.  I looked up to adults, seeing them wear these wristwatches that I thought were only for adults.

Years later as a grown adult, I purchased my first watch.  I had the same feeling of accomplishment and pride.  Wearing a watch shows the world that you have attention to detail and exemplifies refinement.   It’s the perfect professional way to complete your style.

2- Checking Your Phone Is RUDE

Emails, social media, phone calls, texts, you name it, it is all right at our fingertips with our phones.

Imagine if you didn’t have to look at your phone for the time!

A quick glance towards your wrist is a much classier way to keep tabs on time during dinner, or a meeting. Not to mention how rude it would seem to your surrounding company to be digging for your phone.

3- Watches Are An Amazing Heirloom

Some of the most precious items I own are from my family.  Memories are amazing, and when you can look down and remember your grandfather wearing the watch that you now get to sport is a feeling that goes beyond words.

A well-chosen watch can certainly increase in value over time.  Timeless and finely executed timepieces will never be outdated. We may need to simply have the mindset that we are looking after that wristwatch until it is passed to the next generation.

4- It Is a Great Conversation Starter

Plain and simple, there is a story behind every watch.  It is a helpful tool to strike up a convo! You may find yourself with more connections with people by asking the simple question, “ Where did you get your watch?”

We may wear a watch just because we LOVE it, or it could be a more emotional reason.

5-Shows Respect for History

The first wristwatch was made for Countess Koscowicz of Hungary by the Swiss watch manufacturer Patek Philippe in 1868, according to Guinness World Records. But the first wristwatch for men is not so easy to pinpoint.

As you start researching these little time-telling beauties, you will find it hard not to fall in love with their journey.

No matter what brand or style you like for yourself you can appreciate a wristwatch as a piece of art.
