Birthstone For The Month
The diamond is the traditional birthstone of April and holds significant meaning for those born in that month. It is thought to provide the wearer with better relationships and an increase in inner strength. Wearing diamonds is purported to bring other benefits such as balance, clarity and abundance says the American Gem Society. You probably already know of the diamond’s toughness. In fact, it’s the hardest gemstone and is made of just one element: carbon. Its structure makes it 58 times harder than anything in nature and can only be cut with another diamond.
Per the GIA or Gemological Institue of America, the diamond is one of the world’s most sought-after and adored gemstones. In addition to being a symbol of love, the diamond was once thought to bring courage as well. Its name comes from the Greek word "adamas," which means “invincible” or “unbreakable.” The timeless charm of diamond was cherished long before it became the April birthstone, and the places where diamond comes from are as fascinating as the lore that surrounds it.
Catch Up From March
Blue Water Jewelers won Second place in the Tips for Kids’ Sake fundraising event for Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Johns County. The event was hosted at Blackfly on March 5th and we want to thank every single person that was able to come, who donated and those who donated online. We are so thankful for our little community, your support and the comradery we felt while supporting a great cause.
Blue Water Jewelers hosted the Junior Service League's Meet and Greet on March 16th. It was our pleasure to have the ladies spend the morning and part of the afternoon with us. We had mimosas and the ladies brought cupcakes from Backroads Bakery that were delicious.
The Junior Service League of St. Augustine strives to create a lasting impact throughout St. Johns County by organizing a variety of empowering and purposeful giving experiences that unite people and nonprofits. Since 1934, JSL has been at the forefront of this mission, channeling over a million dollars into causes that matter, from supporting the St. John’s County first responders to Children’s Home Society.
Employee Highlight
In March, we had a new employee start with the company. Elizabeth Kulhmann has been living in St. Augustine for the past five years and is originally from Kansas City. She is energetic and comes to us from a local art gallery. She has training in the jewelry industry and her eye for detail and artistic ability are a welcome addition to the Blue Water Jewelers' team.
